2008 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Art of Miniaturizing RF and Microwave Passive Components
Message from the General Chairs
Dear Colleagues and Students,
It is our pleasure and privilege, as the General Chairs, to welcome you to the inaugural IEEE MTT-S
International Microwave Workshop Series (IMWS) to be held in December 14 and 15, 2008, in Chengdu,
Sichuan, People’s Republic of China. This IMWS is jointly organized and sponsored by the IEEE MTT-S
Society and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC).
As proposed by the IEEE MTT-S Transnational Committee chaired by Prof. Ke Wu and approved by the
IEEE MTT-S Administrative Committee (AdCom), this new workshop series is created in 2008 to boost
and promote MTT-S technical and educational activities as well as MTT-S international exchanges and
collaborations. Several workshops covering different topics will be developed each year in various
continents and countries. The topics of this year’s IMWS in Asia-Pacific region are selectively focused on
Art of Miniaturizing RF and Microwave Passive Components as many fruitful research achievements have
been reportedly made in this region.
Chengdu, the habitat of giant pandas, has long been reputed as the capital of "Heavenly State"
(Tian-Fu-Zhi-Guo) for its long history, abundant produce and brilliant culture. Located in Chengdu, UESTC
is now known as “the cradle of China’s national electronic industry” and more than 50 professors working
in the areas of microwave theory and techniques.
It is our sincere wish that all the participants can grasp this opportunity to update your knowledge via
attending technical sessions, to make/renew good friendships among participants and to have an enjoyable
stay in this historic city during the IMWS’08.
