Papas explains difficult ideas simply and concisely so one obtains an understanding without the usual grinding. This text has the elegance of Stratton and the thoroughness of Smythe or Kong.

Although this book was written by a professor of electrical engineering at the California Institute of Technology, it is not at all a book for the practical design engineer. Instead, it is an elegant analysis of antenna radiation and the associated problems of electromagnetic propagation in a plasma and the Doppler effect. It will appeal to every applied physicist.
